I've taken a job in Eastern Nevada for the summer as a vegetation technician, which basically means I get paid to camp, ID plants and collect data about them and their environment. I love Nevada so far and as usual, people who know nothing about the state but think they do are totally wrong. Yeah it's hot, but it's cold too (see the snow in one of the pictures) and the evenings and mornings are otherworldly. The people are great, funny and witty in a strange "thousand mile stare" sort of way. So far I've seen badgers, rattlesnakes, horned lizards, stealth bombers (we're near Area 51), pronghorn antelope, and a million plants and I've got two more months left.

Snow after my second night camping in Ely, NV.

A lonely sand dune in the background (called "Sand Mountain") and salt flats at the fore.

Dry lake beds = awesome campground
